This workshop is designed for management teams to better align their supply chain performance with overall business strategy and performance. By focusing on the critical stages of Engage and Define from the SCOR framework, participants will gain a clear understanding of how to define a supply chain strategy that resonates with the business strategy, identify improvement opportunities, and build a compelling business case for change.
Workshop Overview:
This workshop is split over two half-day sessions and is available either in person or remote. The program is tailored to help participants bridge the gap between supply chain performance and business performance, making it easier to frame improvement initiatives in terms of return on investment (ROI). All of this helps Supply Chain leaders speak the language of business leaders who may not appreciate the complexities or jargon of Supply Chain. This session works best when a team work together on it.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Understand what is meant by business context, segments and how the supply chain relates to overall business strategy.
- Learn to identify and measure key supply chain attributes and performance indicators.
- Recognize opportunities for improvement using performance benchmarks.
- Build a structured and compelling business case to support improvement initiatives.
- Develop a repeatable approach to present and justify supply chain improvements by being clear on investment and ‘Return on Investment’.
Workshop Agenda:
Session 1:
- Introduction to Supply Chain Strategy and Business Case Development
- Understanding Business Context: Aligning supply chain objectives with business goals.
- How to segment Supply Chain’s that operate within a company
- Supply Chain Attributes and Performance: Defining key attributes and metrics.
In between sessions 1 & 2, participants must work on gathering data and sense checking their thoughts from the first session. At all times, we work through real examples.
Session 2:
- Review of ‘Current State’ performance on metrics defined in session 1
- Introduce the method of assessing supply chain health vs. competitor/peer benchmarks
- Identifying Improvement Opportunities: How to link supply chain improvements with business performance & values
- Building the Business Case: Creating a structured case to support investment in supply chain improvements.
- Framing improvement initiatives in terms of ROI to ensure organizational buy-in.
